It turns out, spotty internet access and a smashed iPad and phone screen don't really make for the best blogging combo.
It also turns out South America isn't nearly as dangerous as I thought it was, and I probably could have got away with taking my laptop.
But these are different stories for different days.
I'm back home, a few months earlier than planned, and my tan, memories and friendships already fading as we all knew they inevitably would.
The good news is that after about 10 years of hoping and praying - after my whole adult life spent pining - I somehow managed to "The Secret" new episodes of Gilmore Girls into existence.
TOMORROW!
(I also managed to swing a new Busted album being released on the same day by some act of sheer wish fulfilment that I still can't quite believe worked).
(I think Kanye's health issues might be some kind of penance for getting these two things I wanted so very much - the universe has a very complex reward/punishment system, but I'm trying not to question it).
(Get well soon Kanye).
So I've been hibernating for the last six weeks in order to be caught up for Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, when it drops tomorrow. At the time of writing, I have about three-and-a-half more episodes and about fourteen-and-a-half hours to go before I find out what Lorelai's been up to in the last 9 years, whether or not Rory has given up her ridiculous dream of becoming a journalist to get a job in digital marketing like the rest of us, and if Michele likes Hamilton.
It feels that all Gilmore Girls fans want broadly the same thing out of the revival: A chance to catch up with our favourite Stars Hollow residents, Luke and Lorelai together and happy, Rory marrying [insert boyfriend of your choice here], some classic Emily sass, and to hear those famous final four words.
But as I've been rewatching episodes for the millionth time, I've decided on a few more specific events I'm hoping to see happen tomorrow. Come with me, as I prepare to be disappointed...
Lorelai and Luke: Keep being boring, please.
Obviously I want them together. Obviously. And I want to see the wedding so I can cry and think about how I'll never experience a love that pure (although I don't really see why they'd get married in 2016). And I want her to be wearing that beautiful dress she bought in Season 6 even though it's probably not very age appropriate Come to think of it, what did Lorelai do with her dress? Can I have it?But other than the marriage and them being together and happy, I don't think I really care much about Luke and Lorelai - all the on-again-off-again bullshit gets pretty tedious in S7. And they certainly shouldn't have children because... well they're both pretty terrible parents, let's face it.
I also need Luke to have accepted that plaid shirts and a backwards baseball cap is not a look you can pull of when you're pushing 50 and balding - but alas, the trailer has shown me this dream won't be coming true.
Is Rory Gilmore still The Worst?
I think we can all universally agree that Rory is literally T H E W O R S T.
She's whiny, spoiled and entitled. Everything has been handed to her on a platter, usually at the expense of someone else, and yet she pretends like her life has been one big struggle because the porch broke that one time. She thinks she's super cool and smart and super special because she's heard of Monty Python and likes to read books. Everyone pretends she's a good writer for some reason (the only time I will ever agree with Mitchum Huntzberger is when he tells her she doesn't 'have it'. She doesn't. She wanted to write a think-piece about illegal downloading in 2006. Who are you Rory???). She walks around thinking she's irresistible to men because of her big doe eyes. She makes terrible decisions, interferes in the lives of those around her, and she once stole a damn boat just because someone told her she wasn't very good at something.

She actually shares a lot of my own worst qualities. I think that could be why I hate her so much.
But the run of the original show gave us Rory ages 15-22. And I think we can all agree that those years are collectively not our finest hours. In fact, I was going to list some 'amusing' comparable anecdotes from my own life when I was in that age bracket, but I realised my parents and/or future employers could read this so.... let's just say I can, erm, empathise with Rory being The Worst.
With this in mind, my one big wish for her is that she has moved on in the last nine years and is now a well-rounded, adult woman with real life experience, and no longer the poster child for Taylor Swift level entitlement.
The Old Boyfriends (or: I have a lot of opinions on Jess)
Dean and Christopher have hopefully both joined the same cult (recruited via pick-up-artists they meet in the mall because they're both so pathetic and lonely), and will be involved in some kind of mass suicide.
No one will really care if we never see Digger or Max Medina again.
Logan is probably in rehab because there's absolutely no way on God's earth that boy didn't have a serious cocaine habit, along with a co-dependant (at best) relationship with alcohol and gambling.
Jess is DEFINITELY rocking a manbun and hipster beard (again, viewing of the trailer has already ruined this for me but let me live please), wearing a lot of distressed denim jackets, working for some kind of painfully cool magazine or publishers in New York and living in Brooklyn. I bet he goes to really cool parties and is totally friends with Donald Glover - but he doesn't like to brag. I want him to meet Rory again, seduce her, bang her (because how much did I want them to Do It when I first watched it, good lord I screamed at the screen so many times) and then leave her forever because he's far too good for her, and "ironically" date Khloe Kardashian instead.
He's basically my perfect man.
Lane deserved better
Lane really should have dropped Zac when Hep Alien broke up for that hot minute, and gone to California to find Dave Rygowski - who wouldn't have rushed her into marriage, and would have introduced her to Summer and Marissa so they could start a girl band. But we all make mistakes, and I'm sure Lane is super happy with her cute twin boys - even if she does resent Zac on the reg.
To make it up to her, I imagine Zac is a really fun stay-at-home dad, while Lane is a busy travelling the world with her new band (and occasionally taking them all on tour with her).
The Forgotten Daughters
Gigi/GG/GeeGee/who cares how I spell her name (Chris's daughter who no one, including Chris, really cares about): Secretly relieved when her dad dies in the aforementioned mass suicide after a lifetime of basically pretending she wasn't there so he could chase after Lorelai, Gigi takes her huge inheritance, buys a few designer handbags, some expensive makeup and camera equipment, and sets off on a career as a superstar YouTuber.
April, smart girl that she is, probably decided to dedicate her life to pissing Rory off as soon as she met her. So I imagine she went to Harvard, became the breakout star of the Crimson, graduated as Valedictorian and was probably the youngest ever winner of the Pulitzer Prize, and one of Christiane Amanpour's close personal friends to boot.
Because Rory Doesn't Have It.
Who's sleeping with whom?
Genuinely, one of my favourite things about Gilmore Girls was imagining the backstories of all the townies... and something I've decided is absolute gospel and must be revealed in the revival is that Andrew (bookshop man) and Gypsy (progressive female mechanic) have been having a long, secret affair. Why else would he publicly row with all his dates at the Dance Marathon? And why else would she be so interested in reading his mail when it got accidentally delivered to her?
Additionally, if Michele doesn't come out as gay now it's 2016 and Lorelai really shouldn't be making off colour jokes about homosexuality at work anymore, I pray that he and Emily become an item. They always seemed to get on a bit too well if you know what I mean.
... and all the rest
I could go on and on and on about what I want Paris and Doyle to be doing, about how I hope they work Sookie's one scene in, about my thoughts on Mrs Kim, and hell - I could write a post on Taylor and Kirk's 'special relationship', alone. But I've still got my last 3.5 episodes to watch and honestly, anyone who's read this far is probably losing sanity at this point. So I'll leave it here, in the last few hours left in this uncertain, post Brexit, post Trump but pre Final-Four-Words world.
Wish me luck - think of me tomorrow, crying and laughing along with my best friend and our mountain of snacks... And perhaps I'll do an expectations vs reality post over the weekend, once I've fully processed the episodes.
